Design: Use inter typeface
I want to add a bit of polish to the design, and one easy, big impact, way is to add a custom font. While I like the lightweight nature of system fonts, it doesn’t always look great. Particularly on windows.
We investigated adding a custom font but ran into issues with emoji rendering. Specifically there is a chrome bug which prevents some emojis from rendering correctly with a custom font:

The solution is to wrap emojis in a separate element, however this leads to another issue where line height is increased. It also increases code complexity, so we are abandoning a custom font for now. 😩
